Palma is at both times glamorous and down to earth. It is frequented by some of the world’s biggest mega yachts and most fabulous celebrities but somehow the city manages to avoid the usual trappings that such popularity usually brings. Palma has modern shopping facilities along, Jaime III, which would compare to any similar sized international city and an old town that is a wonderful network of small narrow streets and alleys in which you can happily get lost for hours. The city can also boast a long sandy beach that is within minutes walking distance of the town centre a real boon for a city of its size. Walking around Palma is a joy with hundreds of tempting Spanish restaurants and small bars vying for your custom. The city feels much like Barcelona with great public promenades, ramblas, cool fountains and public squares in which you can sit in the shade and enjoy a cool drink.
